This fragrance celebrates author and anthropologist Zora Neale Hurston. She was a gorgeous "rose" with a more substantial beauty under her surface. In addition to her incomparable story-telling ability, Huston was a passionate student of humanity. She used her education and resources to study and document women's roles throughout the diaspora while highlighting the shared experiences of all races of humans.

I created this fragrance with the expected romance of a rose and married it to the complex, deep aromas of wood and musk. The result is nothing like my grandmother's rose perfumes, but instead is a modern take on the traditional. I hope it is something the complex Ms. Hurston would have loved.

All LITOTES fragrances are crafted by me, Kari Herrera of the LIT Society Podcast, and tested meticulously on my most distinguishing friends and family members (i.e., the fussy folks) to ensure you'll love it in your home. I then hand-pour each recipe into uniquely beautiful vessels — which you'll enjoy reusing for years to come!

I make all LITOTES candles from my own luxurious soy wax blend and essential oils. All ingredients are non-toxic when used for their intended purpose. These candles burn cleanly with excellent cold and hot throws.

I test on people, not animals, and my products are free of phthalates.
