Writer and artist Langston Hughes inspired this aromatic experience. Books surrounded Hughes with the friends and adventures he so desperately craved as a child. As he grew, his love for literacy evolved into an exceptional talent as a writer. He once said of the power of literature in his life, "I ... believe in nothing but books and the wonderful world in books."

I commiserated with Hughes' appreciation for the written word as an avenue for escape while crafting this, a fragrance that recalls the well-worn leathers and pages within a home library. It is my most popular candle, which admittedly still surprises me, given its overtly masculine notes. Clients love it for its transformative ability. Place this candle in any room, and it will instantly become a warm, welcoming space for reflection. 

All LITOTES fragrances are crafted by me, Kari Herrera of the LIT Society Podcast, and tested meticulously on my most distinguishing friends and family members (i.e., the fussy folks) to ensure you'll love it in your home. I then hand-pour each recipe into uniquely beautiful vessels — which you'll enjoy reusing for years to come!

I make all LITOTES candles from my own luxurious soy wax blend and essential oils. All ingredients are non-toxic when used for their intended purpose. These candles burn cleanly with excellent cold and hot throws.

I test on people, not animals, and my products are free of phthalates.
