"My grandmother would take an orange and almost parboil it ... everything would just smell of oranges and cloves." - Maya Angelou.
This fragrance is inspired by Maya Angelou, who lived as an open book. Growing up, sometimes in her grandmother's home, she was surrounded by the chatter of family and the beautiful aromas exuding from the family's kitchen and attached general store. Annually, her paternal grandmother would boil oranges to accent the fragrances in their home. Interviewed about these moments, Angelou would sometimes tear up while fondly reflecting.
I wanted to be in the store, with Angelou and her grandmother, eavesdropping on the family gossip and taking in the wise words of the matriarch. I made this fragrance with the scents I thought surrounded Angelou during those happy, peaceful times. Of course, at the forefront is refreshing citrus, which absolutely delights my inner child. I then projected from memories of my own grandmother's kitchen, with wood notes from the tables and counters and soothing mint tea brewing for guests.
All LITOTES fragrances are crafted by me, Kari Herrera of the LIT Society Podcast, and tested meticulously on my most distinguishing friends and family members (i.e., the fussy folks) to ensure you'll love it in your home. I then hand-pour each recipe into uniquely beautiful vessels — which you'll enjoy reusing for years to come!
I make all LITOTES candles from my own luxurious soy wax blend and essential oils. All ingredients are non-toxic when used for their intended purpose. These candles burn cleanly with excellent cold and hot throws.
I test on people, not animals, and my products are free of phthalates.
Note: This candle is larger than most luxury candles and burns for much, much longer.
